CareCall AI exists because my dad couldn't keep track of four eye drop bottles

Hi — I'm Brendan Gifford, the founder of CareCall AI. This page is the honest version of why this service exists.

The problem showed up in my own family first

My dad is 67 and lives alone. He's been through a heart attack, two strokes, and then bilateral cataract surgery. After the eye surgery, the clinic sent him home with four different eye drop bottles and a four-week tapering schedule — three drops a day at first, five minutes apart, with the frequency stepping down each week.

He had no spouse to help, no nurse checking in, and me — living too far away to be there at 8 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m. every day. Within days he'd lost track of what he'd taken. Missed steroid drops after eye surgery aren't a small thing: inflammation can flare back up and undo the surgery's result.

I couldn't be there for every dose. But a phone call could.

So I built something small: a system that called him at each scheduled time with a warm voice, asked him to press 1 once he'd done his drops, and texted me the moment he answered. No app — he doesn't use a smartphone. Just his phone, ringing at the right time, with a voice that didn't rush him.

It worked. He finished the schedule. His follow-up went well. And I realized every family with an aging parent has some version of this exact problem — medications, prep before a colonoscopy, recovery after a knee replacement, or just knowing that someone living alone is okay today.

What CareCall AI is (and isn't)

CareCall AI makes friendly, automated phone calls that remind your loved one about medications, pre-procedure prep, post-op routines, and appointments — and check in on how they're doing. They press one button; you get a text instantly. If they don't answer, we retry and alert you. Everything runs on the phone they already have.

It is not medical advice, a monitoring device, or a substitute for emergency services. The schedules in our reminder guides are editable defaults based on common protocols — the instruction sheet from your own doctor or clinic always comes first, and our calls exist to make sure that sheet actually gets followed.

How we operate

CareCall AI is built and operated in Canada, with PIPEDA-compliant data handling and pricing in Canadian dollars. It's a small, founder-run company — when you email hello@carecallai.ca, I'm the one who reads it. We also run prep-compliance call programs for clinics and endoscopy centres.
